Getrid started in a single classroom with six computers. 16 years later, we're still built around the same idea: teach fewer people, teach them properly.
Getrid Computer Academy opened in 2010 in Lokoja, Kogi State, with a single goal: give people practical, employable computer skills without the six-figure tuition of a university degree. We started with basic computer literacy classes for secondary school leavers and small business owners.
Today we run full programming, data analysis, cybersecurity and design tracks, partner with schools across Kogi State — including technical colleges preparing students for WAEC and beyond — and have placed graduates in banks, telecoms, and tech startups across Nigeria.
Mission: Equip every student with hands-on, job-ready computer skills through small classes, real projects, and instructors who teach until it clicks — not until the syllabus ends.
Vision: To be the training ground Nigerian employers trust first when they need someone who can actually do the work, not just talk about it.
If a topic can't turn into a project, we don't spend three weeks on it.
We cap class sizes so instructors can actually track individual progress.
